Women’s Fellowship For Christian Service

Women have played a vital role both in the old and new testaments. Their place in society and giving them the due importance is not questionable. When in the society their contribution to the growth and development has been recognized it is more important for the Christian Community to accord the place, which they rightly deserve.

The Diocese of Jabalpur in keeping with the concept of women’s place in the community has not lagged behind and the WFCS of the diocese has a good past record. Only for a few years there seemed to be some slackness but when the new Bishop of the diocese, the Rt. Rev. Dr. P. C. Singh took over as the Bishop his wife Mrs. Nora Singh was elected as President of the WFCS and soon after taking over the reigns Mrs. Nora Singh infused a new spirit into the WFCS. The different departments like the Christian outreach programme, the Christian Family programme, Social Education, Christian Literature, Least Coin programme, World Prayer Day etc. were reorganized and have started their work in right earnest.

The Diocese has been divided into four divisions in order to facilitate working. The annual conference, which is conducted in October – November every year, is well attended and about 100-125 delegates take part.

The Women have a great potential and if given encouragement and an opportunity, will enrich the life of the diocese. The Bishop always encourages the WFCS and definitely, the diocese will continue to have a great part to play in contributing towards its progress.
