The Seoni Church

Towards the end of the 19th century when the mission work started in Seoni and after a few were converted to Christianity the work of establishing a worship place was started. The Seoni Church (in front of the petrol pump) was constructed in1860 by the British Government and belonged to the Church of England. It is a small but beautiful building built by using black stones having random joinery. The architecture is unique and easily attracts the attention of passers by. It is surrounded by a boundary wall. The bell tower, the Gothic arches and the sloppy roof give elegance to the building. The church is used by a  small congregation which is actively involved in involvement of non Christians.

The other Church was built in 1876 with the contribution of the local congregation. Till 1970 when the church of North India was formed the worship and sacraments were conducted strictly as per the Bible nothing outside of it was permitted, only Psalms were sung. No Christmas and Easter were observed. All this was based on sound biblical principles. However times have changed and the mode of worship also has undergone change through the old sprit continues to be a guide factor.
