Mission Hostel  Seoni

Mission hostel in Seoni is the oldest institution which was started in 1886 as a result of the worst famine in which many lives were lost due to starvation. The severity of the famine can be judged by the fact that the people were compelled to eat roots of bamboo plants for their survival. This famine rendered many children as orphans and …………….. the plight the newly arrived missionaries opened the orphanage.

The orphanage continued to serve and care for the children and to teach the children of the love of God. The orphanage became a shelter and a place of security. The children were sent to mission school and many were educated who served as preachers, pastors and even doctors and engineers.

However there came a period when the help from Scotland stopped and by the year 1974 it was decided to close down the orphanage. At this time KNH Kinder North Life of Germany was approached through the CNI CCC and help started coming and once again the orphans, poor children were admitted. Things went well till the year 2000 when due to misunderstanding between the KNH and CNI the help was curtailed and no new children were asked to be admitted, therefore the strength in the hostel came down from nearly 100 to only 45.

However the KNH has very recently promised to allot some more foster ships.

It will be worth while mentioning there are about 30 children from Assam. They come from Kokraghar district of Assam which has been the centre of terrorists who burn houses and kill people, thus the children are safe here and are progressing well.

In spite of uncertainties we continue to believe that God will help us and the hostel will continue to support the children so that they not only become good citizens of this land but be a witness for Christ.
