The
Constitution provides for many standing and other committees in the
diocese. The Constitution of the Church of North India is based on the
Biblical doctrines and is totally democratic.
The
members on the committees are elected in the diocesan council, which is
held biennially (every two years). The meetings of the committees are held
at least twice in a year but when required more meetings are held. The
most important committee is the executive committee whose decision is
final. There are important committees like the finance, ministerial,
property etc. and these committees regulate and coordinate the work. The
Executive Committee finally decides their recommendations.
The
meetings are held in a good atmosphere and decisions are taken often by
consensus. The records of the proceedings of the meeting are kept and
maintained carefully. The diocese has the distinction of maintaining
records in a very good way. The proceedings of the diocesan council are
recorded in detail and are printed in a booklet form, which is one of the
good traditions of the diocese.
Behind
the activeness and sound working of the diocese, the central driving force
is the Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Dr. P. C. Singh who is ever alert and careful
in guiding the proceedings. The members deserve appreciation for their
cooperation.
